CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased man's estate is suing Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC; Southpoint Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; Southpoint Nursing & rehabilitation Center, LLC; Manor Care of South Holland IL, LLC; Manorcare of South Holland; and Manorcare Health Services-South Holland in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Gloria Williams as independent administrator of the estate of Thomas Shelly, filed a complaint on July 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Shelly.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, Shelly developed pressure ulcers that led to sepsis, which caused his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide a proper care plan to make sure that Shelly didn't develop pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
