Woman says mistakes during surgery led to her husband's death

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO — The wife of a man who died following surgery in 2014 is suing Advocate Christ Medical Center; and several doctors and medical practices, including Mabelle H. Cohen, M.D.; Patroklos Steven Pappas, M.D.; Janet Louise Phelan, M.D.; Antone John Tatooles, M.D.; Danielle Marie Amato, P.A.; Lindsay Christine Jones, P.A.; David Edward Hart, CCP; Sejal S. Modi, CCP; Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Associates, S.C.; and Midwest Anesthesiologists, Ltd., in a wrongful death case alleging negligence in her husband's medical care.

Nancy Buhe, personal representative of the estate of James E. Buhe, filed a complaint on Aug. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to James Buhe.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2014, her husband, James Buhe suffered permanent physical injuries during surgery that resulted in his death in December 2014. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly evaluate James Buhe's condition during surgery.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Francis P. Morrissey of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny in Chicago.
