CHICAGO — The family of a woman who died while in the care of a nursing home is suing Manor Care of South Holland IL LLC, d/b/a Manorcare Health Services - South Holland; Manorcare Health Services LLC; HCR Manorcare Inc.; and a nurse in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Barbara Benson, as independent administrator of the estate of Lorraine Benson, filed a complaint on Aug. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Lorraine Benson.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Lorraine Benson suffered from the development of a pressure ulcer that deteriorated her overall health and caused or contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Lorraine Benson in order to prevent her from developing a pressure ulcer.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants of more than $50,000. She is represented by Margaret Battersby Black and Nicole Schroeder of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
