Woman blames transport company for fall from wheelchair

Wheelchair 02

CHICAGO — A patient is suing medical transportation services company Awesome Star Enterprise Inc. and an unknown operator, individually and as agent of Awesome Star Enterprise Inc., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Diann Bellamy filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to properly secure her as a wheelchair-bound patient before transporting her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 11, 2015, she sustained physical injuries when a medical transport vehicle made a sudden stop, propelling her onto the floor of the vehicle and causing her wheelchair to fall on top of her. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to make sure she and her chair were properly secured.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants of more than $30,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Jack M. Shapiro of Law Office of Daniel E. Goodman, LLC in Rosemont.
