CHICAGO — A hair salon is suing its landlord, Windy City RE LLC, alleging breach of contract and fraud after the real estate company allegedly demolished the building in which the salon was located, and failed to provide equivalent space elsewhere in which to operate.

Van Cleef Hair Studio Ltd. filed a complaint on July 6 in Cook County Circuit Court Chancery Division against Windy City RE LLC, alleging that the defendant failed to provide usable new lease space to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015 and 2016, the hair studio suffered damages to its business from not having a new lease space.

The plaintiff seeks a declaration that the Windy City lease is no longer in effect, as wellas damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Douglas A. Albritton and Gregory A. Kubly of Akerman LLP in Chicago.
