CHICAGO — A Metra worker is suing his employer over alleged negligence, violation of federal law and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Jose M. DeHoyos filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation, which does business as Metra, alleging that the employer failed to provide plaintiff a safe workplace.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 3, he suffered injuries while working aboard a boom truck. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the employer allegedly failed to provide a safe boom truck to the plaintiff to be able to perform his duties safely.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $30,000, plus court costs. He is represented by F. Daniel Petro of Petro Law Firm in Chicago.
