CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased man's estate is suing Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC, which does business as Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in nursing home care.
Gloria Scott, as independent administrator of the estate of Morris Vaughn, filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendant, alleging that the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to Vaughn.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Vaughn suffered from the development of pressure ulcers and a fall that fractured his arm, contributing to his death. The plaintiff holds Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Vaughn to ensure that he didn't suffer a fall or develop pressure ulcers.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by David M. Resis of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman in Chicago.
