Rimland Services accused of negligence in burns suffered by autistic resident

CHICAGO — A guardian is suing a group home for autistic residents over allegations of serious burns during a shower.

Syed Hussaini, guardian of one of the home's residents, is suing Rimland Services NFP, an Illinois corporation, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries. Syed Hussaini filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that Rimland Services NFP failed to provide proper care to the resident.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 30, the resident suffered second-degree burns on her body. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision during the resident's shower to make sure the water wasn't too hot.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Daniel J. McDevitt of McDevitt Law Offices, P.C. in Chicago.
