CHICAGO — A woman, on behalf of a patient, has sued medical care providers in connection with a fall.

Joyce Thorton, attorney-in-fact for Willie B. Rich, filed suit against Sinai Health System Inc. and Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center of Chicago, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries. They filed a complaint on Sept. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging failure to provide proper care for Rich.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Rich experienced pain from a fall that resulted in a left hip fracture, which contributed to the overall deterioration of her health. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Rich or implement a care plan to address her risk of fall.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. They are represented by Michael L. Shanahan of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
