CHICAGO — A restaurant operation is suing a roofing company for more than $8 million, alleging that its improper use of propane torches led to a fire.

Mainstay Management LLC, d/b/a The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant, filed a complaint on Sept. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Trinity Roofing Service Inc., alleging that the roofing business failed to implement safety measures while performing work on the plaintiff's property.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, Mainstay Management suffered fire damages to its property, after Trinity Roofing Service Inc allegedly failed to exercise caution while operating open flame torches to perform its work.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $8 million, plus court costs and interest. Mainstay Management is represented by Richard Wm. Strawbridge of Sneckenberg, Thompson & Brody, LLP in Chicago.
