CHICAGO — A gastrectomy patient is suing over alleged negligence in medical care.
Iris Melendez filed a complaint on Sept. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against a doctor, identified as Frederick Tiesenga, M.D., as well as medical practice Tiesenga Surgical Associates, S.C., and VHS Westlake Hospital Inc., which does business as The Chicago Center for Bariatric Surgery, alleging that they failed to properly perform a gastrectomy procedure on her in 2014.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Stephanie K. Nathanson and Michael T. Peterson of Law Offices of Stephanie K. Nathanson in Chicago.
