Lakeshore Hospital accused of negligence in connection with woman's death

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death claim against Aurora Chicago Lakeshore Hospital LLC and Signature Healthcare Services LLC, alleging negligence in medical care.

Tommie Neals Jr., as independent administrator of the estate of Ruth Thornton, filed a complaint on Aug. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Thornton.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Thornton experienced suffered a fall that resulted in several physical injuries, including a left frontal intraparenchymal hemorrhage, which contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Thornton or implement a care plan to address her fall risk.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Steve Levin and Daniel A. Goldfaden of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
