MacNeal Hospital, others accused of negligence in eye care

CHICAGO — A patient is suing doctors, identified as Ronald S. Weiss, M.D., and Brian P. Larsen, M.D.; medical practice Chicago Eye Consultants; and MacNeal Hospital, alleging negligence in connection with eye surgery.

Victor Rodriguez filed a complaint on Oct. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, he suffered serious permanent physical injuries due to errors in eye care. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly interpret preoperative exams, performed surgery on an improper candidate, improperly placed sutures, injured his eye and committed other negligent acts.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by John J. MacInerney of Hofeld and Schaffner in Chicago.
