Oak Trace, others accused of negligence in connection with woman's death

CHICAGO — A representative of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death claim against Oak Trace and Lifespace Communities Inc., alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Joyce Weinstock, independent executor of the estate of Virginia Becker, filed a complaint on Oct. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Becker.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Becker sustained serious physical injuries that contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for an alleged spill of hot water onto Becker.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000. She is represented by Charles V. Falkenberg, III of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg, LLC in Chicago.
