Administrator of deceased boy's estate alleges negligence by Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, others

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased boy's estate has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence in medical care.

Laquita Smith, as independent administrator of the estate of a boy filed a complaint on Nov. 2, in Cook County Circuit Court against Mercy Hospital and Medical Center; Easter Seals Academy; Radiological Physicians LTD.; Hamid R. Mohazab, D.O.; Emergency Medicine Physicians of Chicago LLC; and Sarah N. Rice, D.O., alleging the doctors and medical facilities failed to provide proper medical care to the boy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the boy did not receive proper care after a seizure. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly evaluate the boy's condition and provide the necessary treatment.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants plus any further relief the court grants. She is represented by James A. Karamanis and Jennifer Timm of Barney & Karamanis, LLP in Chicago.
