CHICAGO — A student is suing University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, former U of I athletic director Michael Thomas and football team employees, including former head football coach Tim Beckman, as well as Toby Harkins, Jerrad Zimmerman, Dr. Robert Bain and Alex Golesh, alleging breach of contract and negligence for depriving him of a scholarship.
Anthony Durkin filed a complaint on Nov. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging, in 2014, he suffered damages due to having his scholarship canceled due to a football injury.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages, medical expenses, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by James J. Roche of James J. Roche and Associates in Chicago.
