CHICAGO — A patient who underwent laparoscopic surgery is suing over allegations of negligence in medical care.
Valerie Kowaluk filed a complaint on Nov. 4, in the Cook County Circuit Court against MacNeal Hospital; Ryan Headley, M.D., Suburban Surgical Associates; Joseph Bresnahan, M.D.; and BHS Digestive Disease Associates, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered from a surgical perforation and then an attempted surgical repair that also required a follow-up procedure when it continued to leak. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly performed a laparoscopic procedure on her and then failed to provide proper follow-up care in connection with the perforation.
The plaintiff seeks judgement against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court plus court costs. She is represented by Richard I. Levin of Levin Riback Law Group, P.C. in Chicago.
