Woman blames Rush University Medical Center, others for alleged burn injuries from Bair Hugger

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Rush University Medical Center, 3M Company and Arizant Healthcare Inc., alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries in connection with burns she suffered.

Diane Shannon filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to safeguard her care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered burns to various areas of her body. She holds the defendants responsible because she allegedly was burned by a warming device called a Bair Hugger blanket or similar device.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Timothy P. Rhatigan of Rhatigan Law Offices, LLC in Chicago.
