Man blames Hertz, others for consequences of alleged false car-theft accusation

CHICAGO — A man is suing The Hertz Corporation, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company and The McKenzie Insurance Agency Inc., alleging breach of contract, breach of duty and intentional infliction of emotional distress, after he was allegedly falsely accused of stealing a car.

Christopher Lendi filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they made false accusations against him.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages and was illegally detained. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible, alleging that he was falsely accused of stealing a rental car and was unlawfully detained.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and compensatory damages, consequential damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Nejla K. Lane of Lane Keyfli Law, Ltd. in Chicago.
