Shopping center manager, owner accused of negligence in connection with fall

Slip01

CHICAGO — A married couple's lawsuit accuses shopping center manager Lake/Ridge L.L.C. and property owner Accretion Management Company of not doing enough to prevent them from slipping and falling on their sidewalks.

Theodore Robert Havenga and Magda P. Havenga filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to make sure that their sidewalks were free of any accumulations of water and ice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in January 2015, Theodore Robert Havenga sustained physical injuries in a slip and fall. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly allowing a hazardous condition and failure to provide warning of the condition.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. They are represented by Antonio DeBlasio and David M. Gower of DeBlasio & Gower LLC in Oak Brook.
