CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against Manor Care of Palos Heights and affiliated business entities, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Michael Valentinas, as special administrator of the estate of James Valentinas, filed a complaint on Nov. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging they failed to provide adequate supervision to James Valentinas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Valentinas suffered a fall that contributed to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to implement a care plan to properly address Valentinas' risk of falling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Brian J. Holmes of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
