Woman blames doctor for prescribing blood pressure meds that caused liver failure, requiring transplant

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO – A Cook County woman alleges she was injured by a blood pressure medication that was prescribed to her, causing her liver to fail.

Camille Durr and Terrence Brown filed a complaint on Nov. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dolton Medical Center and Prabhaker Parikh, M.D.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs alleged Parikh prescribed Methyldopa to treat Durr's high blood pressure. The suit states that drug caused Durr to suffer liver failure, requiring a liver transplant in August 2015. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inform Durr of the potential harm of using the drug.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000. They are represented by Brian LaCien of Power Rogers & Smith LLP in Chicago.
