Man alleges Ingalls Health System fired him because he is gay

Wrongful term 09

CHICAGO – A Cook County man alleges he was wrongfully terminated because of his sexual orientation.

Stephen Dix filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against Ingalls Health System and University of Chicago Medical Center, citing discrimination under the Illinois Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from being terminated from his job as Ingalls' Director of Decision Support. In 2014, the complaint said Dix signed an agreement to become an independent contractor, performing essentially the same work for Ingalls. The plaintiff alleges Ingalls' executives harassed him after learning he is gay, and, in August 2016, fired him because he is gay.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by attorney Ed Mullen in Chicago.
