Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, others accused of incorrect diagnosis of mass in woman's neck

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — A married couple's lawsuit accuses Zeenath Asma, M.D.; Associated Pathology Consultants-Elmhurst, S.C.; Elmhurst Memorial Hospital; Edward-Elmhurst Health; John D. Ortega, M.D.; and Elmhurst Clinic, LLC, of negligence in medical care.

Gena Medema and Michael Medema filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Gena Medema.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege Medema failed to properly evaluate and treat tissue in her neck from which a mass removed in 2012, and was found in 2015 to include "lymphoid tissue with abnormal squamous proliferation."

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. They are represented by Thomas G. Siracusa of Power Rogers & Smith, LLP in Chicago.
