Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, others accused of improper care, wrongful death during childbirth

CHICAGO — An administrator of the estate of a woman who died after child birth has filed a wrongful death claim against her health care providers, alleging negligence in medical care.

Changhong Tang, independent administrator of the estate of Bilan Gong, filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Medical Group and Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital; West Suburban Obstetrics and Gynecology Ltd.; a doctor, identified as Casey Morris, M.D.; and other individuals, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Gong.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Gong received improper care during childbirth that contributed to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for alleged shortcomings in care including inappropriate use of Pitocin and allowing hyper stimulation of Gong's uterus.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. He is represented by Patrick A. Salvi, II and Aaron D. Boeder of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. in Chicago.
