Doctor accuses Rush University Medical Center of breaching contract

Contract 09

CHICAGO — A doctor is suing Rush University Medical Center, citing alleged breach of contract, defamation, fraud and tortious interference.

Dr. Jacob Rotmensch filed a complaint on Dec. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Rush University Medical Center, alleging the hospital failed to inform the plaintiff that he was under investigation and that he would be surrendering his privileges while under investigation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he suffered damages from losing employment privileges and opportunities. The plaintiff holds Rush University Medical Center responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inform the plaintiff the consequences of agreeing to a separation letter and sabbatical.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Richard B. Kapnick and Nancy A. Temple of Katten & Temple, LLP in Chicago.
