Northwestern Memorial Hospital, others blamed for alleged surgical error

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A patient is suing medical care providers, alleging negligence in a surgical error that led to injury.

Valerie Lymperis filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against George Cybulski, M.D.; Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, which does business as Northwestern Medical Group; Rohan Lall, M.D.; The McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University; and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has suffered drop foot as a result of an error in a Dec. 26, 2014, spinal surgery. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the surgery allegedly was performed at the wrong level of her spine.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Brian T. Monico of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny LLC in Chicago.
