South Shore Hospital accused of allowing development of pressure ulcers, leading to patient's death

CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against South Shore Hospital, alleging negligence in hospital care.

Patricia Patterson, as special administrator of the estate of Larry Patterson, filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging they failed to provide proper care to Larry Patterson.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Patterson suffered from the development of pressure ulcers that contributed to his death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Patterson to prevent the development of pressure ulcers and for allegedly failing to provide adequate treatment for the ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Molly L. Condon of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
