Woman blames Joe's Bar, individuals for alleged attack injuries

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Where's the Duke? Inc., which does business as Joe's Bar; an alleged assailant, identified as Arturo Ramirez; and two individual concert promoters, identified as Octavio Segura and Jose Cortez, alleging various counts including violation of the Dram Shop Act, negligent security and negligence, after she was allegedly injured during a bar fight.

Lupe E. Jauregui filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that she was injured in an attack.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 31, she sustained physical injuries including several lacerations and nerve damage when her dancing partner was allegedly attacked by Ramirez. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for various allegations of negligence and failure to follow the law regarding alcohol service.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Roosevelt Allen III of The Deratany Firm in Chicago.
