Jackson Square Skilled Nursing & Living Center accused of negligence in resident's care

CHICAGO — An administrator of a deceased woman's estate has filed a wrongful death claim against Jackson Square Skilled Nursing & Living Center, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Valarie Thomas Mallory, independent administrator of the estate of Barbara Thomas, filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendant, alleging the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to Thomas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Thomas suffered from dehydration, hypernatremia and a urinary tract infection, and claims that Thomas' death was a direct and proximate result of one or more of the plaintiff's acts or omissions. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to Thomas.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Robert J. Rooth of The Rooth Law Firm in Evanston.
