Woman blames doctor for allegedly falling short in cancer treatment procedure

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Franciscan Physician Network and doctor Manish Dhamija, M.D., alleging they did not properly treat her cancer.

Colleen Brooks filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging a failure to provide an accurate report regarding the plaintiff's condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered emotional distress and has required surgical procedures and incurred expenses because Dhamija purportedly found cancer during two procedures, but allegedly didn't adequately document the location or remove the entire tumor. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to take proper steps in connection with a procedure, leading to unsuccessful and ongoing attempts to determine where the cancer is located.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Edward G. Proctor, Jr. of Munday & Nathan in Chicago.
