CHICAGO — A woman is suing Advocate Medical Group, alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Barnette Adams filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate, alleging medical staff failed to make sure an examination room was safe for the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she suffered physical injuries in January 2015 as the result of falling, striking her head and other parts of her body, after tripping over a footstool in an examination room. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for its alleged failure to inspect the examination room for hazards and to warn the plaintiff regarding any dangerous condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael R. Richmond of Heller & Richmond, Ltd. in Chicago.
