CHICAGO — An unidentified individual is suing Chicago Presbyterian Church, Presbytery of Chicago, San Marcos Church and Church Extension Board of the Presbytery of Chicago, alleging negligence, fraudulent concealment of claims and equitable estoppel.

John Doe 6 filed a complaint on Jan. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that their negligence allowed a pastor to prey upon the plaintiff sexually years ago.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered physically and mentally from being sexually abused, and further alleges that he repressed memories of the abuse until a news report brought them to the surface in January 2015. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly supervise the pastor and protect the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark R. McKenna and Evan M. Smola of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
