CHICAGO — A woman is suing Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200, Oak Park and River Forest High School and another woman, alleging negligence in connection with a chemistry experiment.

Gabriela Menezes filed a complaint on Feb. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to use precautions when performing experiments in chemistry class.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 28, 2013, she sustained severe injuries when a glass beaker containing isopropyl alcohol exploded. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to students performing the experiment to minimize the risk of accident.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Peter M. DeLongis of The Law Offices of Peter M. Delongis, Ltd. in Oakbrook Terrace.
