Family blames Chicago nursing facility for resident's death

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing a Chicago nursing facility, alleging negligence led to the death of a resident.

Miguelita Santos, as independent administrator of the estate of Pacita Curaming, filed a complaint Feb. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against Glen Elston Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre Ltd., and Glen Health and Home Management, Inc., alleging failure to provide proper care to Curaming.

According to the complaint, Curaming experienced pain from suffering a fall in October 2015, which caused a fracture of the right femur and infection which contributed to the deterioration of her health and, eventually, her death in July 2016. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate supervision and assistance to Curaming to address her risk of falling.

Santos seeks judgment greater than $50,000. She is represented by attorneys Jaime A. Koziol and Jacob D. Radecki of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
