Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists of Illinois, others accused of missing cancer diagnosis

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family is suing Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists of Illinois Ltd. and Robert M. Meyers, M.D., alleging the defendants missed a cancer diagnosis.

Ekaterini Lekkas, as daughter and special administrator of the estate of Maria Lekkas filed a complaint on Feb. 10, in the Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Maria Lekkas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Lekkas went for an examination of a nasal lesion and was told to use an antibiotic ointment, only to discover later that she had squamous cell cancer. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly evaluate Lekkas' health condition and order necessary tests to determine the source of her left nasal pain.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants an an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by George Argionis of Argionis & Associates, LLC in Chicago.
