CHICAGO — An administrator of the estate of a deceased woman is suing a Chicago nursing facility, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence.
Gwendolyn Martin, as independent administrator of the estate of Earnestine Norman, filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court. The complaint was filed against The Villa at Windsor Park Nursing and Rehab Center, Villa Healthcare Management Inc., Dr. Rajesh T. Iyengar, Teia L. Atwood, N.P. and Ritl Medical Services S.C., alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Norman.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Norman experienced pain from having severe hyperglycemia, which contributed to the deterioration of her health. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Norman to control her blood sugar levels.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Kelly A. Sabo and David M. Resis of Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates, P.C. in Chicago.
