CHICAGO — The special administrator of the estate of a man who died after he was struck by a falling cinder block has filed a wrongful death claim against construction contractors, alleging failure to provide a safe work area.
Antonia Lopez, special administrator of the estate of Roman Iatsyshyn, filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Jenny Builders Inc., Art Gurevich and Polo Masonry Builders Inc. alleging that they failed to provide workers with a reasonably safe environment.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 4, Iatsyshyn sustained serious physical injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, when he was struck by a cinder block that fell. He subsequently died as a result of his injuries, the complaint states. The plaintiff holds Jenny Builders, Art Gurevich and Polo Masonry Builders responsible because they allegedly failed to make sure the workplace was safe.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Sean P. Murray of Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman LLC in Chicago.
