Presence RHC Senior Services accused of negligence in woman's care

CHICAGO — A deceased woman's family is suing Presence RHC Senior Services, alleging negligence in nursing home care.

Sam Westferro, as independent administrator of the estate of Frances Westferro, filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Presence RHC Senior Services, which formerly did business as Presence Ballard Nursing Center, alleging the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to Frances Westferro.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Westferro suffered from the development of pressure sores and pneumonia. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Westferro to address the risk of developing pressure sores and failed to recognize the early signs of pneumonia.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to satisfy the jurisdictional limits of this court, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Jeffrey Schlapp of Schlapp Law Group, L.L.C. in Chicago.
