CHICAGO — A married couple's lawsuit against Anil Kesani, M.D., and Southland Orthopaedics Ltd. alleges negligence in medical care.

Regina Melia and Ronald Melia filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Regina Melia.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege Melia sustained serious physical injuries, including nerve damage. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to immediately remove a paddle in connection with an implanted spinal cord stimulator, despite Melia's complaint of pain.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. The plaintiffs are represented by Michael P. Cogan of Cogan & Power, P.C. in Chicago.
