Wrongful death claim alleges negligence by Loyola University Medical Center; case settled, dismissed

UPDATE: Cook County court records indicate this case was dismissed under a settlement agreement on April 13, 2017.

CHICAGO — A deceased man's family has filed a wrongful death claim against Loyola University Medical Center, alleging negligence in medical care.

Debra Hartman, as special administrator of the estate of Mark Hartman, filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Loyola, alleging Mark Hartman suffered a bowel perforation that contributed to his death. The plaintiff alleged nurses failed to follow the orders of Hartman's treating physician.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by Stephen D. Phillips of Phillips Law Offices in Chicago.
