CHICAGO — Two people are suing Norfolk Vet Products, citing alleged fraud in the death of their dog.

Kristy Owen and Dale Galaleo filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Norfolk Medical Products Inc., which does business as Norfolk Vet Products, alleging the Illinois corporation made false representations regarding its "Companion Port," a vascular access port that was surgically implanted in their dog, Trooper.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege a surgical procedure that was performed on Trooper decreased his chances of survival and would not have been needed if the "Companion Port" was radioopaque, as allegedly advertised. The plaintiffs accused the defendants of alleged fraud and product liability.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Anna Morrison-Ricordati of AMR Law Group, LLC in Chicago.
