CHICAGO — A deceased patient's family is suing nursing facility South Suburban Rehabilitation Center LLC, Extended Care Clinical LLC, Extended Care Consulting LLC and the facility's owners for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent a patient from developing pressure ulcers.

Vernetta Rowland, independent administrator for the estate of Lenell Rowland, filed a lawsuit on March 21 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging they failed to provide Lenell Rowland with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Rowland experienced pain after developing pressure ulcers. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to supervise and assist Rowland to prevent the formation of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of $50,000 and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Michael Silverman of Horwitz, Horwitz and Associates Ltd. in Chicago.
