CHICAGO — A disabled patient's family is suing Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers, Roseland Community Hospital Association and doctors William P. Walsh and Carlito Javier for allegedly misdiagnosing and discharging the patient despite her abnormal vital signs.

Ethel Allen, plenary guardian of the estate of Gail Allen, filed a lawsuit on March 20 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide Gail Allen with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Allen sustained an anoxic brain injury after being misdiagnosed with an infection of her salivary glands. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly diagnose Allen's condition and recognize her abnormal vital signs prior to discharging her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants to fairly compensate her in an amount that exceeds the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court. She is represented by David E. Rapoport, Joshua L. Weisberg and Melanie J. VanOverloop of Rapoport Law Offices P.C. in Chicago.
