CHICAGO — A deceased man's family is suing Symphony of Orchard Valley, Countryside Care Center and Symphony Financial Services LLC for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent the patient from choking on a three-inch-long piece of food.

Christopher Arias, independent administrator for the estate of Richard Arias, filed a lawsuit on March 22 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide Richard Arias with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Arias choked on his food, and the defendants allegedly failed to provide immediate attention to the patient upon showing signs of choking.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Kelly A. Sabo and Kristen N. Koeller of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
