Pete's Liquor Store allegedly failed to take safety measures to prevent fall

CHICAGO — A former customer is suing Pete's Liquor Store Inc. for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent her from tripping and falling when she stepped on a depression in the floor that was purportedly covered by a mat.

Sharon Vojtek filed a lawsuit on March 28 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendant allowed the depression in the floor to exist near the refrigerated cases inside its store.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she experienced pain after she tripped and fell on Dec. 11, 2016. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff of the dangerous condition of the store.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Francis Patrick Murphy of Corboy & Demetrio P.C. in Chicago.
