CHICAGO — An administrator of the estate of a deceased patient is suing Southpoint Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management of Illinois LLC and four nurses for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent the patient from developing pressure ulcers that purportedly resulted in the patient undergoing a leg amputation.

Minnie Johnson, independent administrator of the estate of Martha Brock, filed a lawsuit on March 24 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging that the defendants failed to provide Brock with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Brock experienced pain from having developed pressure sores that required the patient to undergo a leg amputation. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to adequately supervision Brock to prevent her from developing the sores.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court. She is represented by Paul D. Richter and Caitlin K. Finnegan of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
