Patient claims hospital staff failed to diagnose spinal condition

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Northshore University Healthsystem Faculty Practice Associates, citing alleged negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

David Shapiro filed a complaint on March 30 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the hospital failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he sustained serious physical injuries from a misdiagnosis. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the staff allegedly failed to recognize and diagnose the symptoms of cervical myelopathy and provide the proper treatment.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. He is represented by Bradley Z. Schulman of Motherway & Napleton LLP in Chicago.
