Southpoint Nursing resident allegedly abused and neglected, suffering multiple falls

Slip01

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC and an employee, alleging her relative was allowed to fall multiple times and was physically abused.

Tarra Adams, as guardian of the person and estate of Yvonne Adams, filed a complaint on April 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper care to Yvonne Adams.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Yvonne Adams experienced pain from suffering several falls and that she was physically abused by the defendant's employee. The plaintiff holds Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation and the employee responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision and assistance to Yvonne Adams and failed to notify her family of changes in her condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $100,000. She is represented by Craig L. Manchik and Lynne Plum Duffey of the Law Offices of Craig L. Manchik & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
