Installation Concepts neglected to make union benefit payments, carpenters' group says

Law money 02

CHICAGO — A carpenters' union is suing Installation Concepts Incorporated, a contractor, citing alleged breach of contract for failing to pay into union funds.

Trustees of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters and the organization's related benefit funds filed a complaint on March 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging that the employer failed to pay fringe benefit contributions to the labor group.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their organization sustained damages due to delinquent payments. The plaintiffs hold Installation Concepts responsible because it allegedly failed to submit fringe benefit payments to the plaintiff, which is a breach of their collective bargaining agreement.

The plaintiffs seek for the defendant to submit a fringe benefit report and pay $28,901 in fringe benefit contributions, $1,706 in dues withheld, liquidated damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by David Whitfield of Whitfield McGann & Ketterman in Chicago.
